Form - Image Bank

This form is very complex; it has lots of sharp edges and protruding parts. It is very irregular.
These forms are very regular. They have either no edges and are very smooth or have very smooth and rounded edges, creating very organised and simple forms.

This form has very smooth edges, however it is quite irregular as it doesn't follow the shape of an irregular shape.
This is a natural form as it is a Lioness, meaning it has lots of very different parts to it. It has lots of curves, as well a some corners and sharp points.
The forms shown in this image are based around a circle, therefore they are fairly regular. Thy have a sharp edge in the middle of them, and a spherical shape on top.

Line - Straight Images

Straight Images

This image shows a diagonal line, with some vertical lines branching off of the diagonal one. This photograph implies uncertainty, however, it also implies power.
The image above shows simply a vertical line. The simplicity of the image and the use of a vertical line creates a sense of strength.
This image uses both leading lines and diagonal lines. The leading lines lead you to the grass, which is the brightest part of the image.
Above, the photograph shows some vertical lines, which imply power, as they are holding up the railing, which is a slightly diagonal line.
This image shows two leading lines, which lead you to the road. There are also some horizontal lines, which imply relaxation.

Pattern - image bank

This image presents two sides, both of which have the same pattern. They have straight line patterns, and are almost symmetrical. This image also shows leading lines.
This photo show a diagonal pattern. The tyres are at alternating diagonal angles and are very tightly packed, create a very dense pattern
This is also a diagonal pattern, however, the diagonal lines have spaces from them and are all at the same angle, meaning this is a neater pattern.
The pattern above is very disorganised and irregular, so much that it is almost not a pattern. There are lots of lines going away from the centre of the tree trunk, however there are clear rings in the tree trunk that create a pattern.
The image above shows a neatly organised pattern consisting of intersecting diagonal lines. There are gaps in between the diagonal lines that create diamond shapes, which are repeated across the image to create a pattern.

Pattern - definition

A pattern is defined as a repeated, decorative design. It can be man made, or a naturally occurring design. A pattern can provide a sense of structure and organisation as it is repeated over and over again.

Straight Images - Colour

This image shows lots of saturated colours. Because of that and the fact the subject of the photo is a flower, it makes you think of Spring and Summer.
This image contains both saturated colours, in the man's high-vis jacket, and muted colours, in the tiles on the floor, therefore this photo creates two contrasting moods.
The Above image shows mainly saturated colours, such as in the bin, the railings, and the red plant pot, however, there are also some muted colours, such as in the floor. A contrast in colours is created.
This photo has a wide range of colours. There are lots of saturated colours such as the red, orange, pink and blue, and there is lots of grey too, shown in some of the drawings painted onto the background. There is a wide range of colours.
There are lots of colours in this photo. Lots of them are saturated, such as the bike wheels, however some are muted such as the colours on the building in the background. There are some analogous colours in the image too; the orange and yellow bike wheel.

Colour - Image bank

Image Bank

This image shows lots of very bright and saturated colours. There are analogous colours, which are the orange and red. The high saturation creates a sense of happiness and celebration.

The above image contains lots of muted colours. This creates a dull and depressing mood.
The image above uses lots of saturated colours. Overall, this image has a happy mood because of it and has connotations of Summer. However, there are some muted colours on the stems of the flowers, but i feel that they add to the piece by creating a contrast against the saturated colours.
Here is an image that contains almost entirely muted colours. As a result, it creates a sense of fear, tension and sadness.
this image contains lots of saturated colours, meaning it creates a sense of joy. It also has analogous colours - the red, orange and yellow are analogous.

Colour definitions

Colour- what you get back from an object when the light the struck it reflects back into your eyes.
Colour is one of the most important aspects of photography. The colours in a photograph will change the way we see it and the message it gives.
For example, images theta are dark/dull in colour can give an effect of sadness, however, bright, saturated colours will make the picture seem happy and cheerful.

There are many different types of colour and ways to describe colour.
Firstly, the level of saturation in the colour is how intense and bright it is. The higher the saturation level, the brighter and more vivid the colour is.

Some colours can be described as muted colours, meaning they have den mixed with grey to create a grey, muted tone.

There are also Analogous colours. These are colours that are parallel to each other on the colour wheel, meaning they go well together in the same photography or piece of art.

Images that inspire me

The image below contains lots of diagonal lines, which gives the image a sense of uncertainty and instability.

This image shows leading lines, which lead you to the end of the road. However, the roads are curved lines, which imply unpredictability.
This image has lots of diagonal lines, which imply fear and instability, which is fitting as the image is of a spider's web and spiders are associated with fear. The lines are slightly curved however, which implies peace.

The photo has both vertical lines, which have connotations of power and strength, and leading lines, which are designed to lead you to a point. I feel that the image is trying to lead us to the top of the building, as this is very high, and therefore powerful.

The image above contains lots of diagonal lines, which gives the image a sense of uncertainty and instability.
The image above uses leading lines to lead us to the end of what looks like a pier.

Lines - definitions

Certain types of line can mean different things.
Horizontal lines can imply peace and relaxation as they are as if they are lying down asleep.

Vertical lines, however, imply power and strength as they are rising up. They also imply potential energy as they can be tall and will release a lot of energy if they fall.

Then, there are diagonal lines which imply instability, as they look as they are a vertical line mid way into falling over. They means they also suggest uncontrolled power. Diagonal lines make photographs dramatic.

Curved lines, much like straight lines, imply peace, however, they have a sense of unpredictability as they are changing direction between points. They also express fluid, smooth movement.
An effective technique in photography is leading lines. Leading lines, such as those used in the image below, are prominent lines in a photo that are designed to lead you to a certain place in the photograph. This is very effective if you have a impressive background which you would like to draw attention to such as the one below.
